This month, twelve ambitious students embarked on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold qualifying expedition, an adventurous journey of four days and three nights. Our adventurers not only faced physical challenges throughout their journey, but also surpassed their own expectations amid the stunning landscapes of Cyprus that surrounded them.

Braving heavy winds and dark nights, our adventurers took on an astounding total trek of 72 km. The expedition kicked off from our ESK campus, where the atmosphere was charged with excitement as students set off toward Taşkent for their first overnight stay in the mountains. After a day of determined hiking, they gathered around for a delicious barbecue, savouring every bite as a well-deserved, hearty meal to recharge their batteries for the adventures that lay ahead.

Day 2 brought a wave of fresh motivation. Originally, the plan was to hike 16 km, but the students rallied together for a debrief and decided they were up for more! With enthusiasm fuelling their spirits, they pushed through to cover an incredible 34 km in a single day! By nightfall, they arrived in Küçük Erenköy, where they could rest by the calming sea and celebrate their impressive achievement. As Day 3 dawned, the final trek of 15 km from Küçük Erenköy to Tatlısu awaited them. Each step was a testament to their resilience and commitment. They navigated the trails with a clear sense of purpose, proving that teamwork and perseverance can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.

Looking back on this thrilling journey, it’s evident that the experience transcended mere physical challenges. It promoted personal development and strengthened the bonds among the students. Their support for one another was nothing short of inspiring!

We are immensely proud of what they have accomplished together. This expedition has indeed been an extraordinary chapter in their lives, and it’s one we will never forget. Here’s to more adventures that challenge us, inspire us, and help us grow!
