In an impressive display of academic prowess and dedication, Virtus students have once again set a high standard with their exceptional performance in the recent examination series. The school community is brimming with pride as the results not only showcase the students’ hard work since the beginning of the course but also highlight the effectiveness of the International Advanced Level model adopted by Virtus.
Unlike other programmes, such as International Baccalaureate (IB), A-Levels offer students the opportunity to specialise in subjects they are passionate about, significantly contributing to their success. At Virtus, the focus on specialisation has paid dividends, as evidenced by the exam outcomes.
Examinations, a cornerstone of A-Level assessment, while challenging, teach invaluable life skills such as focus, time management, stress handling, and performing under pressure. These skills are not only crucial for academic success but also prepare students for future challenges at university and beyond.
Virtus students, through their rigorous exam preparation, have mastered these competencies, setting a solid foundation for their future endeavours.
However, the journey to these outstanding results was not without its challenges. Recognising the limitations of a single exam period determining a student’s final grade in traditional UK A levels, Virtus adopts the IAL examination model that allows for multiple exam sittings in January and June.
This approach minimises risks and ensures that the final grades reflect a student’s consistent effort, deeper understanding, and refined exam techniques over time.
The recently released results from the January exam series mark a period of celebration, reflection, and learning. It’s a testament to the resilience of our students, who, guided by a ‘fail forward attitude,’ have learned to reflect on their performances, adapt their study habits, and take ownership of their learning journey.
This attitude, encouraged and nurtured at Virtus, has been instrumental in their success.
