Wie ist das IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) aufgebaut?
Das International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) ist ein anspruchsvolles zweijähriges Programm, bei dem die Schüler am Ende der zwei Jahre im Mai ihre Abschlussprüfungen ablegen.
Für das IBDP werden sechs Fächergruppen angeboten, aus denen die Schüler jeweils einen Kurs wählen können. Es besteht auch die Möglichkeit, anstelle eines Kurses in den Geisteswissenschaften einen zusätzlichen Kurs in den Bereichen Naturwissenschaften, Individuen und Gesellschaften oder Sprachen zu belegen. Das IBDP ist in Stufen unterteilt, wobei jeder Schüler mindestens drei (aber nicht mehr als vier) Fächer auf höherem Niveau (HL) und die restlichen auf Standardniveau (SL) belegen muss. HL- und SL-Kurse unterscheiden sich im Umfang, aber es werden weniger Fächer anhand derselben Noten bewertet. Von den Schülern wird erwartet, dass sie auf einem höheren Niveau ein größeres Maß an Wissen, Verständnis und Fähigkeiten nachweisen.
Neben den Fächergruppen umfasst das IBDP drei obligatorische Kernelemente: Erkenntnistheorie (TOK), den Extended Essay (EE) und Kreativität, Handeln, Service (CAS). In der Erkenntnistheorie sollen die Studierenden über die Natur des Wissens und darüber nachdenken, wie wir das, was wir zu wissen behaupten, wissen. Die Prüfung erfolgt durch eine mündliche Präsentation und einen 1.600 Wörter langen Essay. Der Extended Essay ist eine eigenständige Arbeit, die mit einer 4.000 Wörter langen Arbeit endet. Schließlich erfordert CAS von den Studierenden, sich kreativ, körperlich und karitativ/ehrenamtlich zu engagieren.
