Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) at BBIS

At BBIS, students in Grades 11 and 12 embark on a meaningful journey through Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – a core element of the IB Diploma Programme. CAS offers students a chance to explore their passions, develop new skills, and make a positive impact on their communities, all while growing into responsible and compassionate global citizens.

Through CAS, students are encouraged to embrace self-determination, creativity, and collaboration. By engaging in real-world experiences and reflecting on their learning, students build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose – all essential qualities for lifelong learning and success.

What is CAS?

CAS is made up of three interconnected strands:

  • Creativity – Exploring the arts and other experiences that foster creative thinking and innovation.
  • Activity – Taking part in physical pursuits that contribute to a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
  • Service – Volunteering time and energy to support others, with a focus on respect, dignity, and meaningful contribution.

The CAS Project

As part of their CAS journey, students are required to take part in a variety of experiences and complete at least one collaborative project. Each CAS project is designed to:

  • Involve real, purposeful activities with clear goals and significant outcomes.
  • Offer a personal challenge, encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones.
  • Promote thoughtful planning and reflection, helping students learn from their experiences.
  • Provide opportunities for reviewing progress and sharing insights with others.

Projects can focus on any one strand – Creativity, Activity, or Service – or combine two or even all three.
Recently, our Grade 12 students celebrated the completion of their CAS journey by presenting their CAS projects and sharing their experiences, challenges, and key takeaways with their peers in Grade 11 – offering valuable advice to those just beginning this important part of the IB Diploma Programme.

Here are some inspiring examples of CAS projects completed by our Grade 12 students as part of their IB Diploma Programme:
