This year’s Book Week inspired students, parents, and faculty with its captivating theme, Literary Heroines & Heroes. Running from March 3rd to 7th, the week was filled with engaging activities that celebrated the art of storytelling.
Both the elementary and secondary libraries hosted a variety of exciting events, including a Book Fair in the foyer, interactive sessions featuring guest readers and buddy reading, and the adventurous Hero Library Quest. Students enjoyed games such as hero trading cards, bookmark design, and the Character Archetype Game, all designed to spark their creativity and love for literature.
This year, we were thrilled to welcome Mr. Barry Stewart Mann, an esteemed storyteller, dramatist, and creative writer. He presented an interactive storytelling performance at special assemblies, sharing captivating tales from world folklore. Students actively participated by bringing the stories to life on stage with puppets, props, and costumes, creating a dynamic and immersive experience.
In addition to his performances, Mr. Mann conducted a workshop for parents focused on storytelling techniques. He shared valuable insights and practical tips on how to engage children with stories at home. Parents learned how to create an inviting storytelling environment, use voice modulation, and incorporate props to enhance the narrative experience.
The week culminated in a lively Book Character Parade, where students and faculty dressed as their favorite book characters. The event was filled with creativity and enthusiasm, showcasing a vibrant array of costumes that celebrated beloved literary figures.
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the celebration of the power of stories during Book Week 2025!
