At BBIS, we believe that social justice is an important part of our students’ education. Our Social Justice Committee organizes events and discussions on a variety of social issues to help raise awareness and advocate for change.
The BBIS Social Justice Committee is a group of dedicated BBIS students and team members who raise awareness, advocate and plan for change on social issues. The group organizes a range of events, volunteers, and discusses racial and social justice issues at our school and with other international schools around the globe.
‘WORKING WITH THIS GROUP OF STUDENTS BRINGS SO MUCH JOY, BECAUSE SIMPLY BEING IN COMMUNITY WITH ONE ANOTHER, PROVIDES A SAFE SPACE TO SHARE, DISCUSS, AND ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE IN RELATION TO RACE, NEURODIVERSITY, SEXUALITY, GENDER IDENTITY, RELIGION, CLASS, AND MANY MORE SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES THAT PLAGUE OUR SOCIETY.’
KRISTINA PENNELL-GÖTZE, HEAD OF DRAMA
In the last few months, the students have produced five zines and shared them with our community. The topics were LGBTQ+ History Month, Microaggressions, Justice for Mahsa Amini, Intersectionality of Religions and Indigenous Heritage Month. We invite you to take the time to read them.
