A Community That Shares, A Community That Grows
Two events, around 60 participants, and one shared goal: promoting the wellbeing of our children and young people through meaningful dialogue between school, families, and professionals.
On 7 and 10 October, the Main Hall at our Roversella Campus hosted Wonder Explorers – Health & Wellbeing, an initiative created within the Smiling community to explore important topics related to children’s growth and development in a practical and accessible way.
From mindful use of digital devices and visual wellbeing to nutrition, posture, self-image, and the influence of social media, the two events were designed to address the needs of different age groups, from young children to teenagers.
Sharing their knowledge and expertise were:
- Dr Chiara Basiricò, medical doctor specialising in Ophthalmology.
- Dr Andrea Borsetti, optician at Ottica Visionaria, with expertise in visual wellbeing and optical solutions.
- Dr Andrea Cavallini, physiotherapist and osteopath, specialising in manual therapy and postural rehabilitation.
- Dr Patrizia Rubino, chemist and science communicator.
- Dr Ilaria Zollino, medical doctor specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with experience in aesthetic medicine and surgery.
- Dr Laura Mazzotta, medical doctor specialising in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, with advanced training in aesthetic medicine and the treatment of eating disorders and obesity.
- Chef Maura Ferrari, Head of Smiling’s Kitchen, who shared the school’s approach to everyday nutrition.
The events, moderated by Prof. Angela Barioni, Vice Principal and Secondary School Coordinator at Smiling International School, actively engaged families, turning expert contributions into opportunities for discussion, reflection, and shared learning.
The true value of this project? Showing that a school community is much more than a place of learning: it is a network of people, experiences, and expertise that can work together to support the growth and wellbeing of our children.
A heartfelt thank you to all the professionals and families who made this initiative possible.
Wonder Explorers – Health & Wellbeing: from our community, for our community.
