A Celebration of Community: LAS Students Compete in the Annual Cowbell Games!

Last month, our students participated in the annual Leysin American School Cowbell Games! This fun week of activities was a great way to get into the spirit of friendly competition and have fun with friends. At LAS, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of athletics and activities that allow our students to push themselves out of their comfort zones. Whether competing in football matches against other schools, exploring the Alps through hiking, or trying a new instrument in the rock band, every student can find something that fits their interests at LAS.

The Cowbell Games is a week that brings out the best in our community and allows students to showcase their skills and talents in a variety of activities in friendly competition by grade level. The first day started with curling, flag-making, and five-a-side football. Day two was in the Magic Mountain Athletic Center, with wrestling, limbo, an obstacle course, and many other games! Grade levels were also awarded points for how much noise and hype they made for their teams, which really got the crowds involved!

The third day was the biggest day of activities, and our students headed up the mountain for ski races, slopestyle competitions, snow sculpture contests, and an Alpage challenge. It was great to be up on the mountain as our ski season comes to an end. Our students loved making the most of the snow and putting their winter sports skills to the test! The last day was a tug-of-war competition: the ultimate test of strength! Well done to all our students for putting in so much effort throughout the week—they really made the Cowbell Games special!

The Cowbell Games show the spirit of LAS: teamwork, perseverance, and fun! Seeing our students step up, cheer each other on, and show their talents across so many different activities was fantastic. A huge congratulations to all participants and to this year’s champions, the Class of 2026, for their well-earned victory. Whether on the slopes, in the gym, or on the field, the Cowbell Games were a fantastic celebration of our community’s spirit!
