Student Community At Eureka Learning Online School

Eureka Learning has a strong focus on student community, wellbeing, and social/collaborative opportunities for our pupils. We strive to ensure every child has the opportunity to connect.

Creating a Social & Collaborative Learning Environment

At Eureka Learning, we are dedicated to creating an online learning environment that promotes communication and collaboration, and welcomes diversity and individuality with open arms. Our online community is made up of students from all corners of the world, with a multitude of different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds.

We create social, leadership, and collaborative opportunities through our school assemblies, student council, social hub, and frequent online events. Our online school has student well-being at the forefront of focus, enabling every child to develop key social skills, make friends inside and outside of classes, build confidence, and feel part of a welcoming community that truly cares.

Online School Assemblies

School assemblies are hosted regularly at our online school, bringing together pupils in primary school and secondary school, often separately, but with some assemblies hosted for all years. Assemblies provide the opportunity for pupils to join in with group activities, participate in events, and even appear as a guest speaker for those looking to build their presentation skills.

We hold regular general assemblies, which bring pupils together to discuss upcoming school events, announcements, and current school activities. We also host special event assemblies for annual celebrations, including our careers week, year 6 induction day, and talent show, which provides an opportunity for students to share their ideas, ask questions, and collaborate with their peers. Our online school creates a well-balanced learning environment, with a mix of fun, skill-building, and education-based activities.

In addition to our assemblies, our regular newsletters keep both parents and students up-to-date with the latest school news, announcements, and events, so they never miss anything. These often feature student articles as well, providing a great opportunity for students to build confidence in writing and presentation.

Student Council

At Eureka Learning, we provide students with plentiful opportunities to build their leadership qualities, confidence, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills, some of the most important skills for their futures. Our student council gives pupils the opportunity to share their ideas, collaborate with other members of the student council as well as with their peers, and develop their problem-solving abilities.

Each year, students can submit their student council application. We then set up voting for each year group, enabling other students to vote for who they would like to lead their year on the student council. The candidate with the highest votes for each year then joins the student council and represents their year group for the rest of the academic year. For those who successfully join the council, this provides experience that benefits their future.

Our online school has two councils, one for primary school and one for secondary school. Both councils meet regularly under teacher supervision to bring forward ideas, improvements, and possible events. Some of these ideas have already been implemented in our online school, including our social hub and new Graphics Communications subject for IGCSE.

Social Space

Our online school’s social space provides a hub for students to share ideas, communicate with peers, and socialise outside of classes. The space features a forum with engaging topics, as well as a group chat for students to participate in. The social space is monitored by our staff and has appropriate rules to ensure a respectful and fun environment is maintained. This space was recently introduced by our student council after they shared the idea for furthering student socialisation across year groups.

Online Events & Competitions

In addition to regular assemblies, our online school also hosts an array of events and competitions for children of all ages. Some previous events have included: art competitions, careers week, talent contests, poster design contests, World Cup celebrations, World Book Day, and anti-bullying week.

We are always looking for new ways to bring our students together, helping to create a community that feels friendly, welcoming, and fun. Our competitions also often feature prizes and certificates, and their incredible work is shared with the rest of the community as well. We believe strongly in celebrating student success, achievement, and growth, encouraging every child to work towards their goals and achieve the success they aspire to.

Inclusivity & Wellbeing

Our online school is dedicated to ensuring every child receives the personalised individual support they need to succeed both in and out of their education. We also never pressure our students, as all community events and social opportunities are completely optional. We strive to encourage interaction rather than forcing it, helping push students in the right direction without pressurising them to feel they have to join in.

We are incredibly proud to be an inclusive online school, with children of all needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring every student can feel included and supported every step of the way. Many of our families have noticed an increase in well-being and confidence after joining our online school community, with our teachers being more than well-equipped in SEND and safeguarding knowledge so they can support every student to become the best version of themselves.
