At Leysin American School, leadership opportunities empower students to shape our school community in meaningful ways. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we’ve been truly impressed by everyone who ran for a position or volunteered their time and energy to serve. We can’t wait to see the positive impact these students will make!
Each spring, students apply for leadership positions across the dorm and student life departments. As always, the process was highly competitive. Every application and interview was strong, and the selection committee faced some genuinely tough decisions.
Students are selected each year for the following roles:
- Prefects—guide life in the dorms
- Ambassadors—welcome new students and represent LAS to prospective families
- Proctors—support the boarding community and serve as role models in their dorms
We also had an outstanding group of candidates run for Student Council. This year, we elected two co-presidents and a secretary. Candidates presented their experience, ideas, and vision to the entire student body. The speeches were impressive across the board, marked by poise, thoughtfulness, and confidence. Many included polished slides and more than a few well-placed moments of humor!
Leadership at Leysin American School goes well beyond these formal positions. Some of our most impactful student leaders aren’t part of any official program. From running a club to mentoring younger students to organizing a dorm event, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference. Students can:
- Become a team captain or club leader
- Join SAFE (Students Actively Fostering Equity) or the BIG mentoring program
- Work on the school yearbook
- Volunteer at campus events
- Represent LAS as an Admissions Diplomat, giving tours to prospective students and families
Our leadership program develops self-motivated young adults into capable, positive changemakers, and builds skills that will serve them well beyond Leysin American School. With a wide range of opportunities available, every student has a chance to grow and discover their own leadership potential. We’re excited to see what this wonderful group of new leaders will bring to our community!
