Hybrid Schooling in the Himalayas Valleys: A New Global Education Model

A new collaboration between Highgrove Education and the Himalayas Valley Educational and Charitable Trust is set to create a pioneering international boarding school in North India.

A new collaboration between Highgrove Education and the Himalayas Valley Educational and Charitable Trust is set to create a pioneering international boarding school in North India. This initiative represents a bold response to a question facing educators worldwide: how do we deliver truly global education to students regardless of where they are born and what opportunities they have access to locally?

Set on a purpose-built 100-acre campus in rural Uttar Pradesh, the secondary school will provide students with an inspiring learning environment, modern facilities, and a strong pastoral framework. Highgrove Education will deliver a British curriculum education, preparing learners for GCSEs and A levels. To round off their year, pupils will join a residential academic programme at Harrow School in London.

For students in India, this means access to the same academic standards, teaching expertise, and expectations found in leading British schools, without the barriers traditionally associated with studying abroad. At its core, this partnership is driven by a shared educational philosophy: that great education should be both globally connected and locally grounded.

Highgrove Education and Himalayas Valley Educational and Charitable Trust Collaborate on Ground-breaking Global Education

In a landmark collaboration set to redefine international education, Highgrove Education and the Himalayas Valley Educational and Charitable Trust have joined forces to establish a premier international boarding school providing transformative hybrid education that transcends geography and expands opportunity in the north of India.

Through this partnership, Himalaya’s Valley Educational and Charitable Trust will develop a purpose-built boarding school campus spanning approximately 100 acres in a rural area of North India’s largest state, Uttar Pradesh, with outstanding onsite facilities and support. UK-based Highgrove Education will deliver a hybrid British education for years 7 through to 13 (aged 11-18), ensuring pupils receive world-class teaching that supports them to achieve their potential in international GCSEs and A levels. This will be complemented by a premium end-of-year residential course at the historic Harrow School in London, offering students invaluable international exposure through a specially curated programme run by Harrow School Enterprises.

Together, the institutions aim to cultivate learners who are academically excellent, globally minded, and locally grounded. The initiative embraces a shared belief that education, at its best, should be both locally rooted and globally connected, empowering students to engage with the world as thoughtful, principled, and capable individuals.

Bypassing Geography, Connecting the World

The partnership was formally inaugurated during a ceremonial event held on the second weekend of the New Year, signifying a landmark moment in Indo-UK educational collaboration and a significant step forward for hybrid education. This partnership bypasses geography, linking students from the Himalayas valleys, a region of remarkable beauty yet limited educational infrastructure, to global standards of learning.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the chairmanship of the Honourable 20th Chief Minister of the State and Member of Parliament, His Excellency Akhilesh Yadav, who highlighted the foundational role of schooling in national and global capacity building, stating:

“The development of globally competent leadership begins with a strong and credible school education system. Ensuring quality, consistency, and accountability across educational stages is essential for preparing future generations.”

Aalok Pratap Narayan Singh, Chairman Trustee of the Himalayas Valley Educational and Charitable Trust, reiterated the Trust’s commitment to societal development through education, saying,

“The establishment of a globally benchmarked school campus in North India addresses existing disparities in access to high-quality schooling and represents a constructive step towards educational equity and capacity building at scale.”

A New Educational Model

Hybrid education is reshaping contemporary schooling models, blending independent online study and live lessons in a virtual classroom with onsite support from a local team. Highgrove Education’s educational approach promotes personalised learning with a focus on student agency, developing learners who are not only knowledgeable, but thoughtful, principled, and capable individuals who can interact confidently on an international level.

Heather Rhodes, Principal and Founder of Highgrove Education, said,

“This collaboration is a shared commitment to educational transformation – to widening opportunity, raising aspiration, and creating pathways that connect learners across cultures and nations.”

As the world embraces a future shaped by technology and cultural exchange, this partnership stands as a beacon of what is possible when tradition, innovation, and a shared vision unite for a common purpose: to empower young people to learn, lead, and live without boundaries.
