The First Fully Online IB Diploma Programme Launches at King’s InterHigh

In a world first, students across the globe can now study the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme entirely online. Beginning this September 2022, King’s InterHigh is bringing the online IBDP to ambitious learners aged 16 to 19.

First developed over 50 years ago, the IB Diploma Programme has since become one of the most highly respected qualifications for school leavers. The IBDP is known for its broad, rigorous curriculum and international focus, making it a great choice for students who aspire to the world’s top universities. Now, these students finally have a flexible way to study the renowned programme from anywhere in the world.

IBDP students at King’s InterHigh will learn through live, interactive classes, all delivered entirely online. Through collaborative and independent study with expert IB teachers, students will get to explore their learning in depth across six subject areas: English, mathematics, sciences, foreign languages, humanities and social sciences, and the arts. The programme also includes the DP core, where students will learn about the theory of knowledge (TOK), conduct their own research project (the Extended Essay), and take part in self-directed creative, physical, or voluntary activities (CAS).

Consistently on the forefront of educational innovation, King’s InterHigh also enhances their online learning experience with cutting-edge technologies. As part of their studies, online IB students will use immersive VR headsets to explore their learning in even greater depth.

The world’s largest online school outside of the United States, King’s InterHigh has over 16 years of expertise in virtual education. Since 2005, they’ve educated more than 10,000 students to success. As part of leading global schools group Inspired Education, King’s InterHigh also joins a 44-year legacy of IB excellence. Inspired’s 25 IB schools are known for their impressive results; last year, the group’s highest-performing school achieved a total average score of 39 points.

Following their studies, one in three Inspired learners go on to Oxbridge, Ivy League, or Russell Group universities. With expert guidance and helpful tools for university applications, King’s InterHigh’s IBDP cohort have all the support they’ll need to gain admission to their dream universities.

Nadim Nsouli, Founder and CEO of Inspired Education group, deemed the launch “A significant step forward for Inspired, King’s InterHigh and the IB.” Inspired Online Schools CEO Mark O’Donoghue, meanwhile, described the online IBDP as “a testament to our track record in delivering the very best online education in an accessible and flexible way.”

In partnering with King’s InterHigh, Matt Costello (Chief BDO for the International Baccalaureate Organization) says the new online offering “will enable more students, and more diverse cohorts of students the chance to participate in IB education programmes no matter where they are in the world.”

Beginning this month, King’s InterHigh is registering interest from students who’d like to join the first fully online IBDP cohort in September. To learn more, visit the King’s InterHigh website.
