Why choose an international school in Copenhagen?

Choosing an international school in Copenhagen offers a myriad of educational and cultural benefits that are hard to find elsewhere. These institutions are designed not just to educate, but to foster a global mindset in students, preparing them for a world where boundaries are increasingly blurred.

A Global Curriculum for a Borderless World

International schools in Copenhagen typically follow globally recognized curriculums such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the British GCSE and A-levels. This global approach to education ensures that students receive a rigorous, high-standard education that is recognized by universities and employers worldwide. More importantly, these curriculums emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding, skills that are indispensable in today’s global economy.

Cultural Diversity in Every Classroom

One of the most compelling reasons to choose an international school in Copenhagen is the cultural diversity found within the classroom. Students have the unique opportunity to learn alongside peers from a wide array of cultural backgrounds. This exposure broadens their perspectives, enhances empathy, and prepares them to navigate and succeed in a multicultural world. The daily interaction with a diverse peer group helps children to naturally acquire the skills needed to communicate and collaborate with people from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

English Proficiency in a Non-English Speaking Country

Despite Denmark’s proficiency in English, attending an international school ensures that students achieve fluency in English, which remains the lingua franca for global business, technology, and science. This is particularly advantageous for expatriate families or Danish parents who wish for their children to master English to a high standard. Moreover, many schools offer additional language programs, allowing students to become proficient in a third or even fourth language, further enhancing their future career opportunities.

Extracurricular Excellence

Beyond academics, international schools in Copenhagen offer a broad range of extracurricular activities that foster various skills and interests. From sports teams to music, arts, and technology clubs, these activities provide students with the chance to explore their interests in depth. Such programs are instrumental in developing well-rounded individuals and often encourage leadership and teamwork skills among students.

Community and Support for Expatriate Families

For families moving to Denmark, international schools can be a beacon of familiarity and support in a new environment. These schools often have robust networks for parents and families, offering a community that can help ease the transition. The support systems in place can assist families with everything from understanding local customs to dealing with logistical aspects of living in a new country.

Ultimately, choosing an international school in Copenhagen is about more than just education; it’s about preparing your child for the future in a supportive, diverse, and dynamic environment. The city’s renowned safety, high quality of life, and the welcoming nature of its people make it an ideal location for fostering young minds.

  • Karl and I just wish we have discovered your school much earlier. We would like to reiterate from parents who have sent our daughter to a private school all her life, Elea High has given her the most valuable and enriched environment to study. The first thing Grace has mentioned to us is how all the teachers spoke to her like an adult with respect instead of treating her like a little child. This made her feel she is worthy and made her feel comfortable in engaging. This is something she said she never experienced in her old school! Private schools may have all the fancy facilities and traditional values but what your school offered is what’s important in school life – respect and the right environment!

Our son is living a sober, happy, healthy life, thanks in part to the skills he learned and nurturing he received at NSA, as well as the hard work he has done on his own since returning from NSA.
