Academics
We currently follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Spanish curriculum. As an IB World School, we are proud to offer the IB Diploma Programme, a globally recognised qualification that equips students with critical thinking skills, academic rigour, and an international mindset.
Yago School Málaga offers a unique IB Diploma Programme. We prepare our students to thrive in their chosen university and career paths through our highly personalised curriculum, superb career guidance, and entrepreneurial approach to education. Our faculty is composed of world-class IB teachers with extensive international experience.
University & Career Guidance
Students are guided to flourish in their desired higher education studies and careers. Our comprehensive University & Career Guidance Programme is designed to help each student identify the undergraduate degree and university that best fits their academic profile and future aspirations. They receive personalised support from our University Counselor through one-on-one mentoring, university visits and events, aptitude assessments, and professional advice.
Our educational approach is based on strong values that promote the holistic development of our students. We believe that knowledge must go hand in hand with a humanistic education, rooted in essential principles such as respect, discipline, effort, autonomy, tolerance, responsibility, friendship, and solidarity. Our goal is to nurture not only outstanding students but also well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of adult life.
We stand out for the high level of English proficiency our students achieve, alongside an advanced level of Chinese or French as a second foreign language, key skills in today’s globalised world.
Extra curricular
we offer a wide variety of Extended Experiences that enrich the academic curriculum and allow students to explore their passions, develop their talents, and strengthen their leadership, creativity, and organisational skills.
On-campus activities include popular sports and disciplines such as basketball, swimming, football, judo, padel, and debate, among others, all designed to promote teamwork, discipline, and personal growth in a supportive environment.
We also provide a wide range of off-campus experiences, making the most of our privileged natural surroundings between the sea and the mountains. Students can enjoy surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, rowing, paddleboarding, and other water-based sports, as well as mountain adventures such as hiking, climbing, and skiing.
In the case of golf, we have a strategic partnership with BLACK IRON, Golf Boarding School, offering a high-performance golf programme. Designed to maximise each player’s potential, it includes a robust calendar of WAGR-ranked competitions and a scholarship pathway to top U.S. universities.
Seasonal Experiences
Throughout the year, we take learning beyond the classroom with unique seasonal activities that combine sport, culture, and personal growth.
In winter, we organise ski trips, mountain excursions, cultural visits, and gastronomic experiences, allowing students to explore new environments, discover different perspectives, and build lifelong memories.
In summer, students dive into the Mediterranean lifestyle with a focus on water sports such as surfing, kite surfing, sailing, and paddleboarding, as well as cultural trips across Andalusia for full immersion in the region’s rich heritage.
These experiences are carefully designed to build confidence, independence, and intercultural understanding, essential skills for students growing up in an increasingly interconnected world.
Wellbeing Programme
The safety and wellbeing of our students are fundamental pillars of life at Yago School Málaga. We foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
We promote empathy, kindness, courtesy, and respect for diversity in all its forms. Our approach is proactive and educational, empowering students to understand the impact of their actions and the importance of creating a supportive community. We maintain zero tolerance for bullying or any kind of discriminatory behaviour, with clear protocols in place to address any incidents swiftly and effectively.
Through workshops, ongoing mentorship, and age-appropriate discussions, we educate students about mutual respect, emotional intelligence, and the foundations of healthy, meaningful relationships, all essential for thriving in today’s global society.
Boarding
Our boarding facilities have been built under the highest quality standards and are among the finest boarding accommodations in Europe. Designed to offer comfort, functionality, and a sense of home, the residence provides a safe and welcoming environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Students enjoy access to a variety of well-equipped and thoughtfully designed spaces, including:
Spacious double rooms, each accommodating a maximum of two students. All rooms are fully furnished with ample closet space and a private en-suite bathroom. While the boarding home is coeducational, male and female students are housed in separate zones. Rooms are professionally cleaned on a weekly basis.
A fully equipped gym, supporting students’ physical wellbeing and training routines.
Common areas with a kitchenette for socialising and informal gatherings.
A dedicated game room for relaxation and leisure activities.
A quiet and well-resourced study room for focused academic work.
Laundry facilities and a secure storage area for convenience and organisation.
A climate-controlled swimming pool with a retractable awning, allowing for year-round use.
Changing rooms and a multi-purpose sports and recreational area, ideal for a wide range of physical and group activities.
These facilities contribute to creating a balanced lifestyle where students feel at home while benefiting from a structured, enriching, and multicultural boarding experience.
Wellbeing, happiness, and safety of our boarding students are our top priorities. Our dedicated staff live on-site and are available 24/7 to support and guide students throughout their boarding experience.
They act as the vital link between school life and residential life, offering ongoing emotional and practical support. From helping students settle into a new environment, to guiding them as they explore the city and adapt to new routines, our resident tutors ensure every student feels welcomed, heard, and cared for. They are also the first point of contact in case of any emergency.
Our Psychologist provide continuous care and guidance, ensuring that students feel supported, safe, and at home throughout their stay. In addition to this daily support, we collaborate closely with a network of trusted, multilingual health and wellbeing professionals in the local area. This ensures that our students have access to specialised counselling and emotional support services whenever needed, complementing the holistic care they receive within the residence.
This nurturing environment promotes not only academic success but also emotional resilience and personal growth.
