Overview
Luanda International School (LIS) is an independent, not-for-profit, co-educational day school located in Talatona, Luanda. Founded in 1998, the school was established to serve the needs of a growing expatriate community while also welcoming Angolan families seeking a world-class, English-medium education. Today, LIS is home to over 600 students representing nearly 60 nationalities, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment that mirrors the diversity of the world beyond the classroom.
As an IB World School, LIS is fully authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate continuum — the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). This rigorous academic pathway fosters inquiry, critical thinking, and global-mindedness, equipping students with the skills and confidence to thrive at leading universities and in their future careers.
The modern, purpose-built campus includes two libraries, science and design labs, art and music studios, a theater, sports courts, swimming pools, and a full-sized football pitch. Sustainability is at the heart of the school’s ethos, with 2,300 solar panels powering much of the campus and instilling in students the value of responsible citizenship.
Guided by its mission and values — “Courage to empower. Passion to inspire. Together shaping our future” — LIS is committed to nurturing compassionate, confident, and socially responsible individuals. Students are encouraged not only to achieve academically but also to develop resilience, creativity, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging within the community.
