Academics
The International Bilingual School of Provence offers a structured, dual-pathway academic program designed to provide unparalleled flexibility and prepare students for higher education anywhere in the world. Our commitment to authentic bilingualism is woven into the fabric of both our curricula.
Primary School: A Foundation for Bilingual Excellence
The IBS primary program fosters curiosity and a love for learning in a truly immersive bilingual environment. Instruction is balanced between English and French, ensuring students develop native-level proficiency in both languages. We follow a customized curriculum that integrates the best of international pedagogies with the French national curriculum, laying a robust foundation for success in both secondary pathways.
Secondary School: Two Prestigious Pathways
1. The French Baccalaureate Track
This rigorous program follows the French national curriculum, leading to the esteemed French Baccalaureate. It is an ideal choice for students aiming to pursue higher education at top universities in France and across Europe. The curriculum is known for its depth and academic excellence, particularly in mathematics, philosophy, and the sciences. Throughout this track, students benefit from a strong English language program, ensuring they maintain their bilingual edge.
2. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Track
For students seeking a globally recognized qualification, IBS offers the full IB Diploma Programme. This challenging and broad curriculum encourages critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and a holistic approach to learning. The IBDP is the gold standard for entry into universities in the UK, North America, and around the world. Students in this program engage deeply with Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and produce an extended research essay.
A Unique Bilingual Advantage
A defining feature of IBS is that these two streams are not separate; they intersect within its diverse community. This allows for a unique intellectual exchange and ensures that all students, regardless of their chosen diploma, graduate as confident, fluent speakers of both English and French.
Mother Tongue Support
Recognizing the importance of linguistic heritage, we offer support and instruction in seven first languages. This commitment ensures that students can maintain and develop their native language skills alongside their bilingual journey in French and English.
The IBS graduates leave IBS not only with a prestigious diploma but also with the linguistic skills and global perspective to thrive in an international arena.
Extra curricular
IBS of Provence offers a large range of extracurricular activities for students of all ages. The list is extenive and includes tennis, football, basketball, yoga, cross fit, volleyball, martial arts, dance, arts, photography, theatre, guitar, etc.
Boarding
IBS has 100 students living in boarding homes from 10 to 18 years old who benefit from a truly stimulating environment of linguistic and cultural exchange.
Of course, boarding students benefit from a specialized program (with scheduled study periods both at school and at their boarding homes).
These study periods are designed to encourage self-motivated, independent learning – a skill which will serve them well as they go on to study at university.
The close proximity enjoyed between students of diverse nationalities fosters language learning and cultural awareness.
Responsible, experienced adults living in the boarding homes work hard to ensure a climate of trust, respect and understanding.
In this way, our boarding homes provide students with a friendly, family-style atmosphere – a place of authentic “life together”.
