At Laurel Springs, we believe in the power of flexible and personalized education, and our 2026 Summer Program reflects this deeply held belief. We have courses available for students of all ages to get ahead or catch up for the next school year. Each summer course is self-paced and designed for flexibility, meaning students have the freedom to create their own dedicated study time.

Students can learn on their own terms, and our summer start dates are available every Wednesday from April 29 to September 9. We offer single semester courses that can be completed in 6 weeks and full-year courses that can be completed in 12 weeks. We will dive into the courses available for elementary, middle, and high school, but encourage you to filter our course catalog to find what course sparks your student’s interest!

Elementary Summer Courses

Younger students can benefit from a summer course for a multitude of reasons, and the Laurel Springs Elementary Summer Program focuses on the mastery of core subjects like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. First through fifth grade students registered for summer courses can expect to spend time online and must have access to a printer to complete each module.

By participating in summer school, students in grades 1st – 5th can remain academically engaged during their break, master difficult topics, increase their reading levels, and build their confidence. For students in fifth grade, it can be a great time to prepare for the upcoming transition to middle school.

Middle School Summer Courses

In addition to studying core subjects like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, 6-8 grade students also have a wide range of electives to choose from, including:

  • Middle School Drawing – Students can learn more about the basics of drawing while exploring mediums like ink, charcoal, crayons, pastels, colored pencils, and digital tools. They’ll practice various techniques like shading and perspective while flexing their creative muscles and earn an elective credit for a year-long summer course.
  • Middle School Digital Citizenship – This course teaches students about online safety and how to vet and accurately cite resources. Students will establish general study skills and routines, preparing for what’s to come in the school year.
  • Middle School Animation – Creative students interested in making their own original art will thrive in this year-long summer course. They’ll learn more about the origins of animation as well as the 12 principles of animation, eventually creating their own characters.
  • Middle School Career Explorations 1 and 2 – For students interested in exploring their future careers, our Middle School Career Explorations courses can help them learn more about opportunities and help them envision themselves in a role post high school graduation.

Summer can be an excellent time to explore areas of interest or prepare for the upcoming school year. It can also be a great time for eighth graders moving into high school to feel set up for success as freshmen.

High School Summer Courses

Students in 9th – 12th grades can explore topics like accounting, creative writing, and classical music appreciation, in addition to core subjects. If they’re interested in World Languages, we offer Spanish, Mandarin, French, American Sign Language, German, and Latin in Levels 1 – 3 as well as AP® and advanced courses for Spanish and French.

For high school students interested in preparing for college, we also offer courses like ACT Preparation, introduction courses to fields like nursing, legal studies, and digital photography, prep courses like LSS’s Bootcamp for AP English and a College Essay Writing Workshop, and AP® courses like Computer Science Principles, English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Psychology, World History, and more.

Available high school electives offer an opportunity for students to explore their special interests, and this year, we have some exciting options like:

  • Astronomy 1 – Learn more about astronomy’s history and development, basic scientific laws, and the study of galaxies, stars, and the origin of the universe. Students will also become familiar with the inner and outer planets of the solar system in addition to sun, comets, asteroids, and meteors.
  • Criminology: Inside the Criminal Mind – Crime and deviant behavior will be studied during this year-long summer course. Psychological, biological, and sociological perspectives will be considered as possible explanations for crimes, and students will investigate social consequences of crime as well as how the criminal justice system handles criminals and their misdeeds.
  • Gothic Literature: Monster Stories – Vampires, ghouls, ghosts, and more! Explore how frightening stories have influenced fiction writers dating back to the 18th century. Students will learn more about major themes in Gothic literature and how the core writing produces a thrilling reading experience.

The benefits of summer school don’t have to be confined to a classroom with four walls, and at Laurel Springs, we empower students to build the educational plan that best fits their needs. Summer is the perfect time to help your student pursue their academic goals, and we are excited to see what course your student will choose!
