Celebrating Creativity at 2025 Design Expo

It’s an exciting time for our secondary students as they showcase their remarkable design work at the 2025 Design Expo. This year’s theme, ‘Creativity’, invites students to express their imagination and innovative spirit, highlighting their diverse talents in the field of design. From Grade 6 to Grade 10, we witness a progressive increase in the complexity of design projects, highlighting the students’ engagement with the design thinking process. This journey teaches them to inquire, research, develop, create, and evaluate solutions for real-world challenges. A solution can be a model, prototype, product or system independently created and developed by students.

• G6 – Persona Models
• G7 – Holiday Lanterns
• G8 – Musical Instruments and Board Games
• G9 – Sneaker Design
• G10 – Bug Hotel and Container Homes

This year, Grade 12 students are also showcasing their Internal Assessments projects, which explore advanced design concepts and demonstrate the extensive research undertaken by our seniors.
Another standout example comes from the Design ECA class, where a group of students collaborated to create the props for the drama production, The Plants, part of the “Little Shop of Horrors.” From initial ideas and sketches to the final fabricated products, their process involved extensive brainstorming, design refinement, and hands-on fabrication. Their teamwork and creativity transformed their vision into a tangible reality.

Problem Solving is at the Heart of Design. A good design is one that is successfully answering a problem with ‘design thinking’ and one that can help make peoples lives more enjoyable and successful. Whether it’s creating sustainable products, improving user experiences, or addressing environmental challenges, our students are learning that good design is a powerful tool for positive change.
