24-Hour Race 2025: Running for a Cause

On the first weekend of the term, an incredible number of students, teachers, and parents came together for the 24-Hour Race, an event organised entirely by IB students from both BISP and UWC Thailand. The race was a testament to teamwork, dedication, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Each team of eight runners aimed to raise 8,000 THB leading up to the race, with all proceeds supporting A21, a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating modern-day slavery through their reach, recovery, and restoration programmes. Results and Highlights The event saw an impressive 146 teams participating in the 24-hour race, alongside 53 runners in the 24-minute race and 16 runners in the 24 km race. Participants included BISP students, teachers, and parents, all coming together for a common cause.

Outstanding performances from BISP staff and students: The No Sleep Nomads team—Aurele, Jack, Adelie, Chiara, and their parents—placed second, completing 421 laps. Illumin-8, the BISP teachers’ team, finished third with 410 laps. A special mention to Chiara, who ran an incredible 83 laps, securing second place for individual performance. The Dr Hans Schrader Spirit Award was presented to the seven co-directors from BISP and UWC Thailand for their leadership and dedication. Beyond the competition, the race was filled with fun activities such as a Slip ‘N Slide, ice baths, and a water fight, while the evening featured a lively night market and student performances. Looking Ahead The 24-Hour Race will return in 2026, promising to be just as exciting and impactful. This event is an amazing opportunity to support a meaningful cause, fulfil CAS requirements, and enjoy an unforgettable experience. Applications to join the student-led organising team will open after the summer holidays.

A huge thank you to all participants, organisers, and supporters for making this event such a success!
