Our International Curriculum
At El Altillo International School, we provide a complete international educational pathway from the age of 1 year through to university entrance, ensuring that every student benefits from a holistic, innovative and globally minded learning experience.
Early Years and Primary (IEYC & IPC)
From 1 to 12 years old, our students follow the programmes of the International Curriculum Association (ICA): the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) in Early Years and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) in Primary. Both frameworks promote project-based learning, meaningful experiences and the development of social, emotional and cognitive skills, within a bilingual and multicultural environment.
Secondary (IB-MYP)
From 12 to 16 years old, students continue with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), which provides a holistic approach to learning. It connects subjects to the real world, strengthens critical thinking and creativity, and encourages the development of international mindedness.
Baccalaureate (IB-DP)
From 16 to 18 years old, our students prepare for their academic and professional future through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB-DP). This two-year programme combines six subject groups with three core components —the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)— which develop research, reflection, autonomy and social commitment.
This internationally recognised curriculum ensures that our students grow as global citizens, ready to succeed in any academic, professional and cultural context, with confidence, competence and a clear vision for the future.
Actividades extraescolares
Extracurricular Activities
At El Altillo International School, we believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom. Our wide range of extracurricular activities enables students to discover their talents, develop new skills and enjoy enriching experiences that complement their academic journey.
Music and Dance School
Since 2000, our authorised School of Music and Dance has offered elementary-level training and individual instrumental lessons from the age of 3. Students can choose from a wide variety of disciplines, including classical and modern piano, Spanish, classical, acoustic and flamenco guitar, violin, flute, bass guitar, drums, flamenco cajón and music theory. Dance classes are also offered, encouraging artistic expression and creativity.
Sports and After-School Activities
We offer a diverse programme of after-school activities, open not only to our students but also to young people outside the school community. Options include football, basketball, volleyball, rugby, pickleball, paddleball, skating, rhythmic gymnastics and many more. These activities promote teamwork, discipline, resilience and a healthy lifestyle.
Workshops in Secondary and Baccalaureate
As part of our commitment to holistic education, students in Secondary and Baccalaureate enjoy free workshops held during break times. These include creative, cultural and wellbeing activities, as well as initiatives linked to the maker world, with hands-on projects developed in our Fab Lab —a unique space that fosters innovation, design thinking and technological exploration.
Through this varied extracurricular programme, our students are encouraged to explore their passions, express themselves and grow as well-rounded individuals in an inspiring and supportive environment.
Embarque
At El Altillo International School we do not offer on-campus boarding facilities. However, we regularly welcome international students in Secondary and Baccalaureate who wish to join our community for a term, several months or a full academic year.
To ensure that these students feel fully integrated and supported, we carefully arrange for them to stay with trusted local host families. This option allows international pupils to enjoy a safe and welcoming home environment while experiencing Spanish culture first-hand.
Living with a host family provides an invaluable opportunity to practise languages, build meaningful relationships and immerse themselves in the daily life of our region. For many students, it becomes one of the most enriching aspects of their educational journey at El Altillo International School.
