Werfen wir einen Blick darauf, wie der Lehrplan des International Baccalaureate aussieht und wie er funktioniert:

Die IB-Organisation wurde ursprünglich als Reaktion auf die mangelnde Flexibilität der verschiedenen Schulsysteme weltweit gegründet. Heute wird das IB-Bildungssystem in über 140 Ländern weltweit anerkannt, und viele der großen britischen und nordamerikanischen Universitäten zeichnen Absolventen mit einem IB-Diplom sehr positiv aus.

Schulen, die dem Lehrplan des International Baccalaureate folgen, werden als IB World Schools bezeichnet. Pädagogen müssen eng mit einem IB-Berater zusammenarbeiten, bevor ihre Schule als IB World School anerkannt wird. Dazu müssen die Schulen einen Bewerbungsantrag einreichen, in dem sie ihre Verpflichtung zur Einhaltung der IB World School-Standards darlegen, zusammen mit den rechtlichen Unterlagen der Schule und einer Budgetaufstellung. Die Schule reicht die relevanten Dokumente gegen eine Bewerbungsgebühr beim IB ein. Das IB-Team arbeitet anschließend mit der Schule zusammen, gibt ihr Feedback zur Bewerbung und unterstützt sie während des gesamten Bewerbungsprozesses. Während dieses Zeitraums wird den Schulen eine jährliche Bewerbungsgebühr berechnet.

Während der Bewerbungsphase werden die Schulen vom IB-Team in einer festgelegten Anzahl von Online-Sitzungen und Vor-Ort-Besuchen beraten. Am Ende der Bewerbungsphase erstellt das IB-Team einen umfassenden Bericht, der den Vorbereitungsstand vor der Zulassung als IB-Weltschule bewertet. Sobald eine Kandidatenschule bereit ist, wird zum Abschluss des Prozesses ein Zulassungsantrag beim IB eingereicht.

Nach Annahme des Antrags führt das IB einen Überprüfungsbesuch durch erfahrene Pädagogen des IB-Pädagogennetzwerks (IBEN) durch. Im Anschluss an den Überprüfungsbesuch erstellt das Team einen ausführlichen Bericht über die Ergebnisse. Sofern keine weiteren Fragen offen sind, erteilt der Generaldirektor des IB-Teams der Bildungseinrichtung die Genehmigung, alle relevanten IB-Fächer zu unterrichten.

Der Internationales Baccalaureate-Programm ist ein Rahmenlehrplan, der aus vier Bildungsprogrammen besteht und in Schulen auf der ganzen Welt für Kinder im Alter von 3 bis 19 Jahren angeboten wird.

Bei der Suche nach einer IB-Schule sind drei wichtige Dinge zu beachten:

Die Beliebtheit vieler international anerkannter Lehrpläne führt dazu, dass für jedes System in einer bestimmten Region oft mehrere Schulen zur Auswahl stehen. Unabhängig davon, ob Sie sich bereits für den passenden Lehrplan für Ihr Kind entschieden haben oder sich noch im Entscheidungsprozess befinden, kann es hilfreich sein zu wissen, ob die in Frage kommenden Schulen auf der Grundlage ihres Lehrplans die bestmöglichen Ergebnisse erzielen. Darauf sollten Sie bei einer herausragenden Schule, die den Lehrplan des International Baccalaureate verfolgt, achten:

1. Akkreditierungen

Eine IB World School-Akkreditierung beweist, dass eine Schule den hohen IBO-Bildungsstandard erreicht hat und diesen stets aufrechterhält. Prüfen Sie zunächst, ob die Schule über die entsprechende Akkreditierung verfügt. Eine echte IB-Schule muss für jedes angebotene IB-Programm autorisiert sein. Eine autorisierte Schule ist ein Zeichen dafür, dass sie die hohen Standards des weltweiten IB-Lehrplans erfüllt. Möglicherweise bieten nicht alle IB-Schulen alle Programme an, sodass ein Kind, das eine IB-Schule besucht, in bestimmten Jahren IB-Kurse besuchen kann, in anderen jedoch nicht.

Beispielsweise kann eine Schule bis zur 11. Klasse (Klasse 10) den britischen Lehrplan anbieten, gefolgt vom IB-Diplom in den Klassen 12 und 13 (Klasse 11 und 12). Obwohl die Schule als IB-Schule gilt, nimmt Ihr Kind nicht an einem IB-Programm teil, wenn es nicht in der 12. oder 13. Klasse ist.

Effektive IB-Schulen verfügen über gute Ressourcen und bieten viele Möglichkeiten, um den unterschiedlichen Bedürfnissen und Interessen ihrer Schüler gerecht zu werden.

3. Globales Ranking

Bei der Auswahl einer IB-Schule kann es hilfreich sein, die durchschnittliche Punktzahl der letzten Schuljahre zu prüfen und mit dem weltweiten Durchschnitt sowie der Durchschnittsnote zu vergleichen. Developing skills and attitudes
The IB curriculum places a high importance on developing skills and attitudes. When students are regularly transferring from one school to another, the content (even within the same curriculum) may not always be the same, but the ability to think critically, to learn independently, to work together with others, to analyse research, to solve problems, and to take responsibility for their own learning are all transferable and allow easy transition from an IB school into any other school. For example, here at BEPS we have had students arrive from locations as diverse as Gabon, Hong Kong, and Colombia and have had leaving students successfully join IB schools in other countries. We also see students reintegrating into local schools in their home country. Our IB coordinator has worked with students who have gone on to higher education locally in Belgium, in the UK, and across Europe, Australia and Asia.
