Why families choose a British school in Villars?
The picturesque town of Villars, nestled in the Swiss Alps, is not just known for its breathtaking landscapes and world-class skiing facilities but also for its exceptional educational offerings, particularly British schools. These institutions are a beacon for international families, and their choice often comes down to a blend of high academic standards, a multilingual environment, and the promise of holistic development.
Exemplary Academic Standards
British schools in Villars are celebrated for their rigorous curriculum that prepares students not just for university but for global citizenship. Influenced by the UK educational system, they offer qualifications like the GCSEs and A-Levels, which are recognized and respected worldwide. This rigorous academic preparation is a compelling reason for families seeking an education that provides a competitive edge in the global arena.
Multilingual Learning Environment
While English is the primary medium of instruction, the schools’ location in the heart of Europe means students are immersed in a multilingual environment. French, being the local language, is often a significant part of the curriculum, and many schools offer additional languages, which is invaluable in today’s globalized world. This linguistic immersion helps students become not only proficient in multiple languages but also deeply understanding of different cultures.
Focus on Holistic Development
British schools in Villars place a strong emphasis on the all-round development of a child. Beyond academic excellence, these schools are equipped with excellent sports facilities and offer a plethora of extracurricular activities ranging from arts to robotics, fostering a balanced development. The stunning Alpine setting also allows unique opportunities for outdoor education and sports, particularly winter sports, which are integrated into the school’s curriculum.
Community and Support Networks
The tight-knit community in these schools ensures that children and their families can quickly feel at home. The international demographic means that families from all over the world contribute to a melting pot of cultures, which enriches the experience further. Moreover, the schools typically have strong alumni networks and parent-teacher associations that provide a robust support system for both students and families, easing the transition for those relocating to Villars.
Choosing a British school in Villars thus offers families a unique combination of academic excellence, cultural diversity, and a nurturing environment, all set against the backdrop of the Swiss Alps. It’s an education that promises not only to teach but to transform.

- February, 2023Dear Teacher Silvio and Guillaume,
Saki is now back home, telling us many stories. Although we could catch some at web photos, we our family feel endorsed thankfully enough by listening her experiences as well as new vocabulary. We appreciate your hospitality and also hope to stay in touch.
Sincerely,

- February, 2023Greetings Everyone,
I hope “la rentrée” all happened well and that the weather is still beautiful in Villars.
This is just a quick note to thank you so so much for all the great care and fun you gave Yilan this summer. She had a fabulous time and told us she would like to go back next summer and/or in a few years as a “monitrice.” Job well-done ! Thank you very much 🙂
BTW my apologies for a tardy reply but I did not write to you earlier because I figured you were enjoying a good break in August and then I did not want to bother you during the start of classes.
To give you a bit of other news, she started her new school last week and she seems very happy. She is in French 3 which is typically for eleventh graders but she is a ninth grader. She tells us they all have such a bad accent “it hurts her ears..” I found that funny. Apparently French spoken badly sounds worse than Chinese spoken badly… “Ouf “… 🙂
Thank you again so much.
All the very best
