Программа получения диплома международного бакалавриата (IBDP) — это интенсивная двухгодичная программа, по окончании которой в мае студенты сдают выпускные экзамены.
Программа IBDP включает 6 групп предметов, из которых студенты выбирают по одному курсу. Также существует возможность изучать дополнительный курс по естественным наукам, людям и обществам или языкам вместо курса по искусству. Программа IBDP делится на уровни: каждый студент должен выбрать не менее 3 (но не более 4) предметов на продвинутом уровне (HL), а остальные – на стандартном уровне (SL). Курсы HL и SL различаются по объёму, но оцениваются по меньшему количеству предметов в соответствии с теми же оценочными дескрипторами, при этом от студентов ожидается более высокий уровень знаний, понимания и навыков на продвинутом уровне.
Помимо предметных групп, IBDP включает три обязательных основных элемента: теорию познания (TOK), расширенное эссе (EE) и творчество, действие, служение (CAS). Теория познания предлагает студентам поразмышлять о природе знания и о том, как мы знаем то, что утверждаем. Оценка проводится на основе устной презентации и эссе объёмом 1600 слов. Расширенное эссе — это самостоятельная учебная работа, завершающаяся работой объёмом 4000 слов. Наконец, CAS требует от студентов участия в творческой, физической и благотворительной/волонтерской деятельности.
