Come è strutturato il programma IB Diploma (IBDP)?
L'International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) è un rigoroso programma biennale, in cui gli studenti sostengono gli esami finali alla fine dei due anni, a maggio.
L'IBDP offre 6 gruppi di materie e gli studenti scelgono un corso da ciascuno di essi. C'è anche la possibilità di studiare un corso aggiuntivo di Scienze, Individui e Società o Lingue invece di un corso di Arti. L'IBDP è suddiviso in livelli: ogni studente è tenuto a seguire almeno 3 (ma non più di 4) materie a livello superiore (HL) e le restanti a livello standard (SL). I corsi HL e SL differiscono nell'ambito, ma un numero inferiore di materie viene valutato in base agli stessi descrittori di voto, e gli studenti sono tenuti a dimostrare un maggiore bagaglio di conoscenze, comprensione e competenze a un livello superiore.
Oltre ai gruppi di materie, l'IBDP prevede 3 elementi fondamentali obbligatori: Teoria della Conoscenza (TOK), Saggio Esteso (EE) e Creatività, Azione, Servizio (CAS). La Teoria della Conoscenza chiede agli studenti di riflettere sulla natura della conoscenza e su come sappiamo ciò che affermiamo di sapere. La valutazione avviene attraverso una presentazione orale e un saggio di 1.600 parole. Il Saggio Esteso è un elaborato indipendente che culmina con un elaborato di 4.000 parole. Infine, il CAS richiede agli studenti di impegnarsi in attività creative, fisiche e di beneficenza/volontariato.
