Sviluppo del personaggio

Naturalmente, il distacco dai genitori dovuto all'iscrizione in un collegio, magari lontano da casa o addirittura in un altro Paese, non è sempre facile per i bambini fin dall'inizio. Tuttavia, generalmente si adattano molto rapidamente alla lontananza da casa e stringono nuove amicizie a scuola perché trascorrono più tempo con i compagni di classe di quanto non farebbero mai a scuola diurna. Inoltre, sviluppano maggiore autonomia e indipendenza dai genitori rispetto a quanto potrebbero fare a casa. Dai primi anni di collegio fino agli ultimi, il collegio può offrire ai bambini un senso di indipendenza che li aiuterà ad affrontare la vita. Tutto ciò può contribuire a far sì che i bambini lascino la scuola con un atteggiamento maturo e si sentano preparati ad affrontare le esigenze della vita universitaria.

Questo rappresenta un grande vantaggio all'inizio dell'università, perché il passaggio dal collegio all'alloggio universitario non rappresenta un grande passo avanti. Inoltre, durante la fase di adattamento a scuola, i ragazzi ricevono un'attenta attenzione e cura pastorale da parte di personale specializzato, che per lo più non è disponibile all'università, rendendo il passaggio al collegio e poi all'università solitamente molto più agevole rispetto a quello dalla scuola diurna direttamente all'università.

L'assenza dei genitori aiuta anche i bambini a imparare a risolvere autonomamente i conflitti. Il personale è formato per intervenire solo se realmente necessario, in modo che gli studenti acquisiscano preziose competenze di mediazione e imparino a tollerare opinioni e punti di vista altrui senza chiedere supporto a terzi. Imparano a condividere con i coetanei sia le esperienze positive che quelle negative. Grazie agli orari stabiliti per i pasti, gli studenti acquisiscono anche una certa autodisciplina e buone capacità di gestione del tempo. Senza i genitori che si prendono cura delle loro uniformi prima di andare a scuola, imparano anche a vestirsi in modo appropriato e ad avere sempre un'uniforme scolastica pulita pronta per il giorno successivo.

Less Time Commuting
Living at School Means Less Time Commuting, More Time to Study. Many of our boarders come from Bangkok or busy cities in neighbouring countries, where they’ve swapped slow city traffic for a short walk through school grounds. This gives our boarders more time in their day to focus on the things that matter most, such as study, music practice, and exercise. Our boarding houses have dedicated study rooms that allow students to spend their spare time putting in extra hours where needed. We respect, and indeed instil, an ethos to work hard… but the House Parents also help the children in their care to strike a good balance of work and play. Our after school boarding activities are run by teachers and tutors, meaning the children who board with us have more exposure to these academic guides.
