Aperçu
The International School Zurich North (ISZN) provides high-quality education for children aged 3 months to 18 years. Conveniently located near Wallisellen train station—just two stops from Zurich’s main station—our modern campus offers bright, spacious classrooms and advanced facilities that support inspiring and effective learning.
ISZN delivers a complete British curriculum pathway from Early Years through A-Levels. In the earliest years, children benefit from a dual language foundation in English and German from Nursery to Kindergarten 1, before continuing in English with the British curriculum. In Early Years and Primary, the British approach combines play-based discovery with a clear progression in literacy and numeracy, giving children a strong foundation for future learning.
In the Middle Years, students follow a broad and balanced curriculum that builds subject depth while encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving. With specialist teachers, structured progression, and opportunities to explore interests in greater depth, students develop the academic discipline and confidence needed for the IGCSE stage. This careful preparation ensures a smooth transition into the final phase of study.
At the Secondary level, students pursue IGCSEs and A-Levels, qualifications recognised for their academic rigour and global portability. These pathways open doors to leading universities in Switzerland, including ETH Zurich, and to top institutions worldwide.
Wellbeing is central to student life at ISZN, with a supportive atmosphere that values kindness, respect, and resilience. Our vibrant extracurricular programme extends learning beyond the classroom, with strengths in drama, art, music, and competitive sports, alongside opportunities such as private music lessons, coding, and robotics. Small class sizes and a dedicated teaching team ensure personalised attention and smooth integration for every child, including those joining mid-year.

Programme
Early Years (3 months – 5 years)
Our Early Years provision begins in Nursery and extends through Kindergarten 1. Children benefit from a dual language foundation in English and German, alongside the British Early Years framework, which blends structured play with early literacy and numeracy. Learning takes place in a nurturing, international environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and strong social-emotional skills, preparing children for a confident transition into Primary.
Primary School (KG2 – Grade 5)
In Primary, students follow the British Curriculum within a skills-based framework that emphasises enquiry, creativity, and critical thinking. Core programmes such as White Rose Maths and Read Write Inc. Literacy ensure measurable progression, while a rigorous German curriculum further strengthens language skills. This combination provides a solid academic foundation, encouraging curiosity and independence while supporting each child’s individual learning journey.
Middle Years (Grades 6 – 8)
The Middle Years curriculum offers breadth and challenge, with a strong focus on Mathematics, Science, Languages, and Humanities. Students continue to develop enquiry and research skills through projects such as the Grade Challenge Programmes, fostering independence and critical thinking. Creativity and personal growth are supported through the Arts, PSHE, and Physical Education. Leadership, resilience, and teamwork are further strengthened through opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
IGCSE (Grades 9 – 10)
Our IGCSE programme balances academic rigour with flexibility, combining core subjects with student choice to reflect individual strengths and interests. This internationally recognised qualification equips students with the discipline, knowledge, and transferable skills they need to excel at A-Level and beyond. Careful guidance and robust support ensure every learner can thrive and pursue their goals with confidence.
A-Level Programme (Grades 11 – 12)
Students specialise in three subjects of their choice, following the internationally respected Cambridge and Edexcel A-Levels. The A-Level pathway allows for deep exploration of subjects, strong academic preparation, and university-level skill development. Options such as the Independent Project Qualification (IPQ) further extend research and analytical ability. Graduates progress to leading universities in Switzerland, including ETH Zurich, and to top institutions worldwide.
