At Harrow Appi Japan, world-class facilities and one of Japan's most spectacular natural settings come together on a single campus. The campus was designed with the expertise of the Harrow family of schools, and every space supports our full-boarding model. Students use it from morning lessons to evening rehearsals, and from weekend training to quiet study in their House.
Our Campus
Miyazaki, our dedicated performing arts building, is home to Music and Drama. It is where students rehearse for concerts, the school musical and House Stomp and Shout.
Our Sports Centre includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a basketball court and a martial arts area. It gives students year-round spaces to train, compete and stay healthy, whatever the weather outside.
Our seven Boarding Houses are each a true home. Students live, study and relax together there, building friendships, independence and a strong sense of belonging.
The Library holds a rich collection in English and Japanese, from first readers to literary classics. It offers a calm space for study and a love of reading beyond the school day.
Our greatest facility is the one outside our windows. Set in the mountains of Appi Kogen, the campus is within walking distance of the largest ski resort in Tohoku, a 36-hole golf course and 14 tennis courts. Few schools anywhere can match this.
The campus changes with the seasons, and so does school life. In the White Season, the slopes become our classroom for skiing and snowboarding. In the Green Season, trails and open fields invite hiking, mountain biking and outdoor learning. In the Golden Season, the hills turn red and gold, a stunning backdrop for Sports Day, expeditions and the Green Long Ducker. With clean air, open skies and space to explore, nature is part of every student's day. It builds fitness, resilience and a lasting love of the outdoors.
Digital Campus
Technology supports learning across the campus. Teachers use digital tools to bring lessons to life, and students can reach their timetables, coursework and resources at any time. Our secure online platform keeps parents connected wherever they are in the world. They can view progress reports and meet teachers through virtual consultations.
At the centre of this sits our Innovation Hub. There, students explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through hands-on projects, from coding to engineering challenges, and turn their ideas into reality.
