Health & safety
Wellbeing at Dulwich College Seoul is a whole-community culture focused on enabling every member to flourish, with the ultimate goal of supporting students to develop and contribute positively to the wider community with meaning and purpose, and student wellbeing stands as the school’s top priority with students feeling safe, supported and happy at its core. The school adheres to the DCI Student Wellbeing Framework, a comprehensive, non-prescriptive model developed via staff and student consultation across the DCI family of schools, which guides wellbeing strategy and implementation and is grounded in four key principles: prioritising the health and wellbeing of students and the whole community above all else, sharing the responsibility for student wellbeing across the community and prioritising it equally in and out of the classroom, valuing the unique actionable wisdom from students’ perspectives and voices, and designing the wellbeing approach to directly address the root causes of student illbeing such as stress, self-esteem and relationship conflict. Student engagement is central to the school’s wellbeing work, viewed as a continuum with three forms—Student Voice, Student Agency and Student Partnership—encompassing initiatives from student feedback surveys to students leading peer-to-peer mental health support in partnership with staff. Additionally, the home-school partnership is deemed essential for student wellbeing; the school provides integrated, holistic support systems for students and families rooted in the framework, has existing initiatives to educate and support parents throughout their child’s education, encourages parents to communicate with teachers, engage in their child’s learning and attend school events, as a close home-school connection is key to fostering positive student wellbeing and advancing the framework’s implementation.
