A ticket to the world in your hand, the keys to knowledge in your pocket, true friends by your side, and the resources of a legacy at your back.
Founded in 1889, Ridley College is a coeducational boarding and day school located on a beautiful 90-acre campus in St. Catharines, Ontario. An hour drive from Toronto and ten minutes from breathtaking Niagara Falls, the Ridley campus is easily accessible from both Toronto Pearson International Airport and Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Students range from JK through grade 12 and come from 53 countries worldwide. With over 360 boarders, Ridley has the largest boarding programme in Ontario and is one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools.
“World Prep” is what you find here: a forward-looking and rigorous programme that prepares students for a university education and a promising future. Ridley is one of only three International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum boarding schools in North America, offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. In addition to the IB Programme, Ridley offers the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a wide range of summer programmes, including our ESL credit course. Ridley graduates go on to study at some of the top colleges and universities in Canada, the United States, and internationally, and are equipped with the knowledge and skills for success.
Beyond academics is a diverse extracurricular programme in the arts, athletics, leadership and, most importantly, community service. For over 125 years, Ridley College has held true to its motto, Terar Dum Prosim, or “May I be consumed in service.” Opportunities abound for participation in Creativity, Action, and Service activities year-round and for students to explore new interests, cultivate their passions, and be challenged to reach their potential.
One of the defining features of Ridley is the traditional house system, which integrates both boarding and day students into 10 boarding houses on campus, each with its own unique identity and sense of community. By incorporating our local day students into the boarding programme, Ridley provides students with a perfect balance of global cultures and a uniquely Canadian experience.

High school? I hated it and so did my husband. My son came home after the first month in Grade 9 at Ridley and said, "I love it." That's worth every penny to me because you don't do anything in life unless you love it. And you will not succeed unless you love it. And he loves it.
What strikes home with me is the international aspect of Ridley, the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who have had an amazing variety of experiences that they can bring not only to the classroom, but to the personal lives of our children, and the opportunities to develop lifelong relationships with these people. In a global world it's a wonderful advantage.
We are very happy with the care and education our son is receiving at Ridley College. The teachers are excellent and they know how to motivate him. The house experience is very valuable as it helps to develop maturity and independence. With all the activities and companionship available at Ridley there is more time to focus on self development and less time for computer games and television. Our son is doing very well in all his subjects and has all the support that he needs to excel.
You need good education and good morals – a whole rounded type of education – not only good academics, but sports, arts, values. Those all play an important role in creating a child who is going to succeed in the world today. Ultimately it also means getting accepted into the best universities in the world because they're well-equipped. Knowing down the road that my kids have gotten the best education I could possibly offer them is what's important to me.
Doors have been opened that would never have been opened for my children. Opportunity. Confidence. That's huge when they go out in the bigger world. Each year as they move ahead, they know where they need to be. They want to excel and they do. I love this school.
Having attended Ridley since Grade 7, I feel as though this school has shaped me into the person I am today. Ridley has given me the tools to be successful in the next steps of my of my education and I am so thankful for that. Ridley's luscious and vast campus is only a fraction as beautiful as the people who are a part of the Ridley college community (If you have ever had opportunity to see the beautiful campus in person, you will understand the weight of this statement). Ridley will challenge you, but it will also support you and encourage you. Attending Ridley is a privilege and a gift.
