I am very excited to be involved in GEMS World Academy (Singapore)’s planning and accreditation of the IB Career-related Programme (IB CP). Subject to final authorisation by the IB, this will be, potentially, our fourth IB Programme and we could be the only school in Singapore to have this status!
NOTE: GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme and pursuing authorisation.
At GEMS Singapore, we have been lucky enough to secure Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as our partner.
SCAD is one of the world’s leading art and design universities, with campuses in Atlanta, Savannah, Hong Kong and France
One of SCAD’s great differentiating factors is that it focuses on employability. Graduates from their Hong Kong campus, for example, leave the college with a 100% employment rate – and not just with any old companies, SCAD graduates go on to work for some of the world’s leading fashion houses, media corporations, film companies such as Disney, Dreamworks, Lucas Film, etc. As well as making them a great college to study at, it makes them a perfect partner for us.
While students on this programme will naturally move towards a preferential status if applying to SCAD for their Bachelor’s Degree, they will also be free to apply to other art and design schools all over the world.
With the GEMS/SCAD partnership, students will be able to spend 50% or more of their time at school working on their art and/or design. This means that by the time they come to apply for university, they will have a portfolio that far exceeds that of the majority of other high school students.
As always, we already have our eye on the future and are starting to line up potential partnerships within the Business and Finance sectors as well as other areas. Our aim is to provide GEMS students with a broad range of pathways so each child can achieve their goals in life.
