Overview

The British School of Córdoba offers a full programme in English, based on the best international education systems. One of the many advantages of our curriculum is the worldwide recognition of the British iGCSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma programmes. Our students can also choose to study French and Spanish modules.

The British School of Córdoba provides a range of flexible study options for international students, ranging from short courses, through to full school immersion. Most importantly, we aim to help students fulfil their potential, whether they are staying with us for one term or for the whole of their school life.

Our community is founded on respect and kindness for each other, and for the world around us. We strive for academic excellence, nurturing students' curiosity through active learning, reflection and collaboration. Each student is allocated a tutor who guides and supports them through their BSC journey, ensuring that they gain the most out of their experience.
Students leaving BSC have the world at their feet and are able to choose between studying in Spain or abroad. The school is based in the vibrant, historic and safe Córdoba city with good links to the Costa del Sol, Madrid and Seville.

Academics

Nursery and Foundation
The Foundation Stage runs over the first three years (2-4 yr olds) and lays the foundation for future learning through the UK Early Years teaching program. This covers seven key Areas of Learning including literacy and numeracy.

Primary
The Primary stage begins in Year 1 and continues until Year 6. We follow the British national curriculum in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5, 6), focusing on the core subjects: Literacy, Mathematics and Science. Learning continues to progress naturally from the Foundation Stage with a gradual shift from play-based education to more formal learning, with an emphasis on inquiry and independent learning. The work is differentiated to help each child reach their full potential with the help of their tutors and support teachers

Key Stage 3 (Years 7 - 9) - Ages 11 - 14
In the first 3 years of Secondary School there is a strong emphasis on developing intellectual independence.
All students study a common curriculum which includes the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. The Spanish Curriculum including Lengua, Ciencias Naturales and Ciencias Sociales are taught alongside the British Curriculum.
We believe strongly that students´ creative abilities are also nurtured through the Arts, Music and Drama. Finally, through our PE programme and extra-curricular activities, we encourage our students to enjoy being fit and healthy.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11) - Ages 14 - 16
During these 2 years, students study for the externally assessed and highly regarded British Cambridge IGCSE examinations. This includes a Core Curriculum, similar to Key Stage 3 which covers both British and Spanish compulsory subjects. In addition, students choose optional subjects from a wide variety including Art, Photography, Music, Computer Science, French, History, Geography and Business Studies. This curriculum more than satisfies convalidation requirements of ESO.

Key Stage 5 (Years 12 & 13) - Ages 16 - 18
Through the IB Diploma Programme, students experience a holistic education which nurtures the students to become creative problem solvers and independent thinkers- ready for an increasingly global society. The IB Diploma is world renowned academic preparation and universities often cite IB students as the best prepared for higher education.
We are able to offer a range of subjects including 3 languages, sciences, computer science, humanities options, visual art and psychology. Students in the 6th Form at the British School of Cordoba also study PCE subjects to complement their IB subject choices. We also offer Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level and Advanced (A) Level qualifications for students who require a tailored approach to their education.

Extra-curricular

The British School of Cordoba’s curriculum of extra-curricular activities and services is a fantastic way to complement the education of our pupils. The school offers an extensive extracurricular program to provide each pupil with a variety of activities that further enrich their learning. We offer a part of our extra-curricular activities during the school's timetable, including band, choir, sports, STEM,MUN as well as a range of private music lessons.
After school activities are also available, such as soccer, padel, golf, gymnastics, dance and much more.

Boarding

We offer the possibility for our boarding students to stay with our carefully selected and police checked local host families. Where possible students are matched with BSC students in the same year group.
