UWC Dilijan (UWCD) is een van de 18 scholen van de United World Colleges (UWC)-beweging met als missie om onderwijs een kracht te maken om mensen, naties en culturen te verenigen voor vrede en een duurzame toekomst. Het is de enige UWC in de regio en de eerste internationale kostschool in Armeni\u00eb. Gelegen in Dilijan aan de oude zijderoute en op een kruispunt van Europa en het Midden-Oosten, symboliseert UWCD het idee van internationalisme en vriendschap. Het biedt een tweejarig IB-diplomaprogramma voor studenten van 16 tot 18 jaar en heeft 220 studenten uit 80 landen en een internationale faculteit van 40 uit 15 landen. De prachtige, goed uitgeruste campus van UWCD strekt zich uit over 8 hectare glooiend en bosrijk landschap, gelegen in het Dilijan National Park. At UWC Dilijan, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a two-year educational course recognised by universities worldwide. A UWC education emphasises experiential learning. The classroom is only one component of that experience, which extends to service learning, sport, creativity, student societies and life together in a residential setting.
\nDriven by a commitment to the social and emotional wellness of our students, the residential life programme provides students the chance to live the values that are central to the ethos of UWC community. Students live in comfortable residences called \u201ctoons\u201d, which in Armenian means \u201chouse\u201d. There are either two or four students from diverse cultures living in one room with shared bathrooms. Toon Parents, the staff members assigned to the residences, support and maintain a homely environment for the students and they assume the role of the local parentis. To make students' living conditions healthy and comfortable there are several common rooms, kitchens areas, indoor game areas, laundry areas and multi faith prayer rooms.
