De ruige schoonheid van het landschap zorgt niet alleen voor een inspirerende leeromgeving, maar stelt leerlingen ook in staat om te profiteren van de omgeving door deel te nemen aan watersporten, bergwandelingen en vele andere buitenactiviteiten. Dit zorgt voor een werkelijk uniek en altijd druk buitenschools programma. De school bestaat uit drie campussen: Elleray, Browhead en Hodge Howe. Hodge Howe is ons eigen RYA (Royal Yachting Association) geaccrediteerd watersportcentrum en boothuis aan de oevers van Lake Windermere. In 2018 werd de school door de Royal Yachting Association verkozen tot een erkende British Youth Sailing Club voor haar racetraining en is de enige school in het Verenigd Koninkrijk die dit heeft ontvangen. Windermere is een bloeiende, historische gemeenschap in Cumbria en een van de meest gewilde vakantiebestemmingen van het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De school is gemakkelijk bereikbaar vanaf grote wegen, luchthavens en het spoor, en is veilig, vertrouwd en praktisch \u2013 kortom, de perfecte leeromgeving voor onze leerlingen. De school is gelegen in een idyllische omgeving, hoog boven Windermere, op de beboste hellingen met uitzicht op het meer en de Langdales daarachter. Wiskunde en Engels beginnen elke dag, en natuurwetenschappen vormen de kern van het resterende curriculum, dat kunst, drama, design en technologie, alle belangrijke sporten en ons unieke Adventure-programma omvat. Kinderen uit het Lake District worden al meer dan een eeuw opgeleid op de Elleray Campus, samen met kostgangers van over de hele wereld. We zijn er trots op dat we elk kind als een individu behandelen. Hun ambities, hoop, behoeften, interesses, potentieel en, het allerbelangrijkste, hun plezier vormen de kern van ons onderwijsproces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lagere en middelbare school<\/strong> (11\u201316 jaar)<br \/>\nOnze onderbouw en middenbouw, gelegen op de Browhead Campus, biedt een veilige, stimulerende omgeving voor kinderen die de eerste jaren van hun middelbare school beginnen. De eerste jaren van het voortgezet onderwijs kunnen gemengde gevoelens, opwinding, verwachting en onzekerheid met zich meebrengen. Op Windermere School bieden we een omgeving waarin jonge leerlingen zich met vertrouwen aan het voortgezet onderwijs kunnen aanpassen, waardoor hun academische vaardigheden en persoonlijkheid tot bloei kunnen komen. De campus, genesteld tussen de bomen met uitzicht op Windermere, biedt leerlingen de ruimte om zich in een veilige omgeving te ontwikkelen. De bovenbouw heeft een 50\/50-verhouding tussen jongens en meisjes, en een vergelijkbare verhouding tussen internaat- en dagleerlingen. Browhead is het hart van de schoolactiviteiten, met internaatfaciliteiten voor meisjes op de bovenverdieping, Crampton Hall, computerlokalen en administratiekantoren op de benedenverdieping. Langdale House, ons internaat voor jongens, biedt een uitstekende ruimte voor jongens die internaat zijn, met een gemeenschappelijke ruimte voor de onder- en bovenbouw waar alle leerlingen tijdens de pauzes gebruik van kunnen maken.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zesde klas<\/strong> (16-18 jaar)<br \/>\nOns Sixth Form Centre, eveneens gevestigd op de Browhead Campus, accepteert leerlingen als dagleerlingen en internaten en biedt een internaat in universitaire stijl, waar ze zowel kunnen wonen als leren. Het rijke literaire en culturele erfgoed van het Lake District, samen met de natuur, biedt een inspirerende omgeving voor studie, zelfontdekking en plezier. De ethos van het leven in de zesde klas wordt weerspiegeld in hun studiefaciliteiten, accommodatie en verantwoordelijkheden. Alle leerlingen hebben een studeerkamer of studiefaciliteiten in Westmorland House, een speciaal gebouwd complex voor de zesde klas. Studenten wonen in appartementen met een- en tweepersoonskamers, een zitkamer en een badkamer. Students may take some GCSEs or IGCSEs in Year 10 and the remainder in Year 11. IGCSEs and GCSEs are offered. Year 11 We accept entry into Year 11 as preparation for the IB Diploma, which is very popular for our international students. Five GCSE subjects are studied to qualify for the IB Diploma in Sixth Form. International Baccalaureate Four programmes are available in the Sixth Form: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP), International Baccalaureate Certificates and some BTECs.
