De International School of Uganda (ISU), voorheen bekend als Lincoln International School, is gevestigd op een groene, speciaal gebouwde campus van 13 hectare in de rustige wijk Lubowa in Kampala. We bieden de volgende prestigieuze International Baccalaureate (IB)-programma's aan: \u2022 Primary Years Programme (PYP) voor kinderen van 3 tot 11 jaar; \u2022 Middle Years Programme (MYP) voor kinderen van 11 tot 16 jaar; en \u2022 Diploma Programme (DP) voor kinderen van 16 tot 19 jaar. De kleuterschool verwelkomt kinderen vanaf 2,5 jaar. Onze faciliteiten omvatten vier volledig uitgeruste, ultramoderne wetenschappelijke laboratoria, drie computerlokalen met internettoegang en draadloze connectiviteit op de hele campus, een bibliotheek met 25.000 boeken, twee sportvelden, een sporthal, een 400-meterbaan, twee zwembaden, vier tennisbanen en aparte faciliteiten voor kleuteronderwijs. De school is momenteel bezig met de bouw van een kunstcentrum met lokalen voor muziek, beeldende kunst, dans en drama, evenals een auditorium met 450 zitplaatsen. Dit zal naar verwachting in 2020 klaar zijn.<\/p>\n
Om evenwichtige individuen te vormen, nemen leerlingen deel aan diverse naschoolse activiteiten. Ze nemen deel aan lokale (ISSAK) en internationale (ISSEA) sport- en kunstevenementen en zijn betrokken bij serviceactiviteiten op school en in de gemeenschap. ISU heeft de Oegandese afdeling van Model United Nations (MUN) opgericht en is daar de afgelopen vijf jaar gastheer van geweest. ISU is een inclusieve school, wat betekent dat we leerondersteuning bieden aan leerlingen met speciale behoeften, hoogbegaafde en getalenteerde leerlingen. We bieden ondersteuning in de reguliere klassen en hebben ook speciale klassen waar we werken aan vaardigheden waar ze mogelijk moeite mee hebben. We bieden ook ondersteuning aan leerlingen die Engels als tweede taal (EAL) leren.<\/p>\n
Zelfselectie voor het International Baccalaureate Diploma Programma \u2013 alle leerlingen in klas 11 en 12 volgen diplomavakken en worden aangemoedigd om het volledige IB Diploma te volgen. Als leerlingen de interne toetsen niet halen of belangrijke deadlines missen, worden ze begeleid naar de IB-certificaatcursus. Alle afstuderende leerlingen ontvangen een ISU-diploma dat is gevalideerd door zowel de Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools als de Council of International Schools.<\/p>\n
Onze studieadviseur begeleidt studenten en hun ouders bij het aanmeldingsproces voor de universiteit. De meeste ISU-afgestudeerden gaan naar universiteiten in de VS of het VK. De internationale gemeenschap van ISU bestaat uit meer dan 530 studenten met meer dan 50 verschillende nationaliteiten. ISU heeft 65 fulltime gekwalificeerde en ervaren docenten, afkomstig van over de hele wereld, waaronder Oeganda. Bijna de helft van de docenten heeft een masterdiploma of een andere postdoctorale graad.<\/p>\n

ISU teachers use the best research-based teaching methods centered on a dynamic international curriculum that meets a global standard for the best education available, the widely acclaimed and highly respected International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes. In the Junior School, Early Childhood to grade 5, the curriculum is based on the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). While providing a strong foundation in all subject areas, the programme focuses on the social, physical, emotional and cultural development of the child. It provides structured inquiry as a vehicle for learning which is carried forward in the other two IB programmes. In the Senior School, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) forms the core of ISU's educational focus for students in grades 6 to 10. The inter-disciplinary approach to learning develops students' critical thinking abilities and communication skills and offers an academically challenging and stimulating programme of study. In grades 11 and 12 students follow the IB Diploma Programme (DP).
