Students meet meaningful opportunities all around the year, and attending them is an excellent chance to try and create new experiences. During the following lines, you will discover Tashi’s story, the boy who loves Maths, and how SPARK School helps him nurture his passions while creating the perfect environment to develop his academic skills.
Tashi Diaconescu joined SPARK in September 2022, and since then, our hybrid high school has won a brilliant student. Recently, Tashi participated in British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 (BMO1) along with other 1909 students from the UK from all high school years.
“The competition was challenging, but I solved 5 out of 6 problems, being placed in the 30th position, only two marks (out of 60) from the Golden medal.” Ready for a new challenge, Tachi concentrated on this fantastic competition which lasted for three and a half hours. Even if his achievement was very close to the Gold Metal, Tashi focused on his primary purpose.
“So I received a Silver Medal and Certificate of Distinction, being proud that I am a student at SPARK and meet these opportunities.”
What he likes most about SPARK is the freedom to study at his level, which he considers crucial for performance. He works on his schedule, splitting time between studying school subjects and his passions. Tashi comes from a beautiful mountain city called Sinaia, which is why he loves nature’s mesmerising places. His hobbies include ski mountaineering and reading about nature’s curiosities.
Studying at an international High School allows him to create a tailored timetable, to combine hobbies with sports or other activities that bring them joy.
SPARK offers the opportunity for all students to create a unique pathway. The fact that you can choose which subjects to focus on helps you understand the importance of learning to be self-sufficient, find your ideal learning method and develop organisational skills. As a full-time student, you can choose between 5-7 subjects for the IGCSE level, and the AS/A level includes choosing 3 or 4. In this way, you build your path and concentrate on your favourite topics without taking the risk of learning something you do not want to focus on.
Tashi’s experience during classes is better than it used to be in his previous years of public school. The differences are visible, and day by day, SPARK learning methods powerfully make a difference. One of the best examples is how classes are structured and why SPARK is preferred. Teachers offer the resources to study different topics on your own before class and give you a substantial chance to develop multiple skills, freeing up the meeting time for consolidating knowledge by asking questions, exploring the topics in greater depth and debating.
