La British School of Brussels (BSB) a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9e en 1969 et a officiellement ouvert ses portes en 1970. Elle s'\u00e9tend sur un magnifique site de dix hectares, entour\u00e9 de bois et de lacs, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du Mus\u00e9e royal de l'Afrique centrale \u00e0 Tervuren (\u00e0 20 minutes en voiture du centre de Bruxelles). L'\u00e9cole est un \u00e9tablissement mixte non s\u00e9lectif de jour pour les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de 1 \u00e0 18 ans, avec 1\u00a0333 \u00e9l\u00e8ves actuellement inscrits. 30\u00a0% des \u00e9l\u00e8ves sont britanniques et plus de 70 autres nationalit\u00e9s sont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves suivent un programme d'\u00e9tudes britannique adapt\u00e9 au contexte europ\u00e9en et \u00e0 la cohorte internationale d'\u00e9tudiants jusqu'\u00e0 16\u00a0ans (I)GCSE. La BSB est la seule \u00e9cole en Belgique \u00e0 proposer trois parcours pr\u00e9universitaires\u00a0: les A-Levels, le dipl\u00f4me du Baccalaur\u00e9at International (IB) (options bilingues fran\u00e7ais\/n\u00e9erlandais) et les formations professionnelles BTEC en anglais dans les domaines du sport, des affaires et de l'h\u00f4tellerie. Un programme v\u00e9ritablement bilingue fran\u00e7ais\/anglais est \u00e9galement propos\u00e9 aux 4-14\u00a0ans.<\/p>\n
Nos r\u00e9sultats scolaires figurent parmi les meilleurs de toutes les \u00e9coles internationales d'Europe. Nos \u00e9l\u00e8ves ont obtenu un taux de r\u00e9ussite de 100 % en 2020 au dipl\u00f4me de l'IB, aux A-Levels et au BTEC. De plus, BSB a obtenu une moyenne exceptionnelle de 38 points \u00e0 l'IB en 2020 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 class\u00e9e premi\u00e8re \u00e9cole du dipl\u00f4me de l'IB en Belgique (2e en Europe et parmi les 50 meilleures au monde).<\/p>\n
The school has outstanding facilities for Design and Technology, Food & Nutrition and Music and Drama. In 2016 BSB opened its new Sports Centre with a Swimming Pool, International competition standard Gymnasium, Sports Hall and Dance Studio. BSB is the only international school in Belgium to have its own indoor 25m pool. In 2020 the school renewed its outdoor pitches for football, rugby, athletics, tennis and even has installed climbing \/bouldering wall.<\/p>\n

The British School of Brussels is made up of two schools: the Primary School - ages 1-11 and the Secondary School - ages 11-18.<\/p>\n
BSB provides a coherent and holistic curriculum built around our Guiding Statements and underpinned by the UNESCO 4 Pillars: Learning To Know; Learning To Do; Learning To Live Together; and Learning To Become. Tuition is mainly in English, although bilingual learning is also offered in French, along with support for other mother-tongue languages throughout the school.<\/p>\n
Students take the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education examinations (IGCSE) at age 16. Students can also take an International BTEC (a vocational qualification awarded by the Business and Technology Education Council in the UK) at Level 2 in Business. BSB students are entered for the IGCSE Science (Double Award) or IGCSE Science (Single Award) exam and are taught by subject specialists for each of the components.<\/p>\n
They then choose to study for the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, or International BTEC Level 3. Some students combine A Levels with Level 3 International BTEC. Students study for these in \u201cPost16\u201d \u2013 the last two years of education at BSB.<\/p>\n
Most students studying A Level and\/or International BTEC will also complete an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). The expectation is that students will begin three A Levels\/Level 3 International BTEC and complete them over two years. A small number will begin four. The Enrichment programme at BSB is an integral part of school life as part of a holistic curriculum. Students engage in a diverse range of activities including sport, drama and music, all supported by state-of-the-art facilities. Football, gymnastics and swimming are priority sports and full-time professional coaches support and guide students at different levels that range from participation for fun to high level competition both in Belgium and across Europe. Netball, tennis, golf and basketball are also played competitively in local leagues in Belgium and with other international schools. BSB is the only international school in Belgium to have its own 25m indoor swimming pool which forms part of an extensive sports complex that also includes a multi-purpose sports hall, specialist gymnastics space, dance studio, fitness room bouldering wall and 5G artificial pitches. Music and drama opportunities are exceptional across the age range and benefit from specialist rehearsal spaces and a fully functioning Theatre. Two full theatre productions are produced each year alongside a busy programme of music competitions and performances. Many students also take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme at all levels. This is complemented by an extensive range of CAS activities and a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular trips and residential visits.
