Each student\u2019s academic program is personalized for their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. Their personalized program includes all the steps needed to achieve the graduation requirements, including multiple projects to help them connect their studies to the world around them.<\/p>\n
Our teachers, called supervisors, are extensively trained in L. Ron Hubbard\u2019s educational philosophy and Study Technology. Academic supervisors serve as expert guides, there to emphasize purpose, interest, and comprehension as well as assist, support, and encourage student success. They ensure students are learning at their optimum pace on their program.<\/p>\n
When students begin at Delphian, they work with their assigned academic supervisor to create a customized \u201cprogram\u201d - a list of courses they will study on their educational journey to achieving the abilities we expect from each student, as laid out in our graduation requirements.<\/p>\n
Creating this program begins with the academic supervisor and the student having an honest conversation about the student\u2019s strengths, weaknesses and interests. These are taken into account, along with the graduation requirements.<\/p>\n","extra_curricula_description":"
Co-curricular classes, clubs and activities are offered in the afternoons, nights and weekends both on campus and in the local community.<\/p>\n
In the afternoons students participate in dynamic classes such as music, art, theater, ceramic arts, choir, computers, creative writing, video production, photography, and woodshop. Physical activities include a variety of interscholastic sports such as soccer, volleyball, track and field, cross-country, basketball, softball and tennis, or personal conditioning classes like calisthenics training or power yoga.<\/p>\n
On weeknights students put in extra study time, attend club meetings, spend time in the rec room or their dorm. Clubs are available for a variety of interests and could include cooking, glee club, writing club, robotics, coding, game design, space club, D&D and many more.<\/p>\n
Weekends commence on Friday nights usually with a special activity in the rec room or a performance in our Little Theater. Saturday afternoon or evening there will be an activity or trip hosted by student council, such as a bonfire and capture the flag activity complete with s'mores, a visit to the beach,\u00a0 a shopping trip to Portland, a\u00a0 seasonal dance, or a community service activity in the local area to name a few.<\/p>\n","accommodation_description":"
Each dormitory is a working team, organized to keep the space clean and make it a place the students enjoy living in and can be proud of.<\/p>\n
Resident staff live in end units of each dorm, helping to provide a friendly, homelike\u00a0environment for the students. There are daily staff check-ins in each dorm before bedtime and younger students are visited by their\u00a0personal teacher\u00a0each night.<\/p>\n
Through our\u00a0student leadership\u00a0program student council members work\u00a0as dorm and bathroom resident assistants under the guidance of the director of campus life, helping to build a warm community in each dorm and to help\u00a0students learn to live and work well together.<\/p>\n
Most rooms are designed for double occupancy, with access to shared bathrooms and laundry facilities. All\u00a0of Delphian's dormitories are in the wings of the main building with the exception of Dragon Hall,\u00a0an exterior girls' dormitory and\u00a0community-use lounge and kitchen facility.<\/p>\n
