Description

Greenfield Community School (GCS) is a school with a warm heart, a place where each child and family is made to feel welcome and at home. A Taaleem school, we seek to inspire young minds and to challenge each child to identify and develop their unique talents. Academically, we are one of just a few schools in the world to offer all four International Baccalaureate programmes. With an inquiry-based approach to learning, IB students learn to be critical thinkers, to be able to undertake research and think deeply about the essential questions that underpin their academic coursework. The Diploma and Career-related Programme are academically challenging and are recognized as the gold standard when it comes to admission to top universities. We are a school that is both traditional and modern. Traditional in the values that we seek to instil in our students: kindness, courtesy and integrity are timeless qualities of character. Our focus on academic rigour and use of educational technology are constantly evolving and innovative. Our school regularly hosts professional development International Baccalaureate workshops for teachers to keep in touch with best practice and developments internationally. In the most recent quality assurance inspection, the Dubai Schools Inspection Board (DSIB) had this to say about our school: “Learning skills were good across the school. Complex presentations at the end of each unit of work showed the well-developed communication skills of students and their ability to learn independently. Collaboration in a range of settings allowed students to be self-reliant in their learning and work towards common goals. High levels of student engagement were a feature of most lessons. Students could make appropriate connections between their studies and extend them to real-life contexts. Critical thinking, research and inquiry were evident in an appropriate range of lessons. Students used ICT skillfully for research and presentation.” With over 80 nationalities and 50 different native languages, this is a truly international school. Children at GCS enjoy a richly multicultural environment, which gives them a breadth of perspective that makes for global mindedness. At the heart of GCS’s values is the International Baccalaureate’s Learner Profile. Please read more about it on the curriculum section of our website. With superb sporting facilities, well-appointed libraries, an auditorium and IT rooms, the school has the resources to allow for inspiring teaching. But it is our teachers themselves who create our school’s unique learning environment. They demand the very best from our students and give them the support and encouragement they need to flourish.
