On Tuesday 14th November 2017, Prem Tinsulanonda International School will hold its 11th annual college and university fair.
The fair has now become the largest in northern Thailand attracting universities and colleges from around the world. Representatives in attendance come from countries as far afield as USA, UK, The Netherlands, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand et al.
Alongside this Prem also runs a seminar programme that offers advice on a diverse range of topics that include applying for financial aid, studying specialist subjects at university, career pathways, writing personal statements and many more. A range of attendees including Admissions Advisers, employers and parents deliver the presentations.
Why is a college fair so important for students to attend from grade 9 and upwards?
Starting early gives them a good insight into possibilities that exist beyond school and can provide motivation to work hard to achieve their dreams and goals. By seeking out information they gain a personal perspective on studying at individual universities, on certain courses and in particular countries. Participants get the opportunity to meet university alumni and also demonstrate their interest which does not go unnoticed by institutions.
In 2016 ninety-three tertiary institutions and advisory agents provided advice and guidance to over 600 students from six international schools in Chiang Mai and two in Chiang Rai plus many parents. Forty-nine seminars were also completed successfully.
This year Prem is hoping to build upon this success and further develop the college fair.
